1- Day-tour - Cairo Museum, Citadel Mosque & Tent Makers Avenue

In the morning visit the renowned Cairo Museum with the King Tut collection and Royal Mummy Room and the Mohammed Ali Citadel Mosque (also called the Alabaster Mosque) which overlooks all of Cairo.

In the afternoon enjoy shopping for some of the local crafts.  The Avenue of the Tent Makers where you can see the local artisans sewing the appliqué items which Egypt is famous for (and needless to say, the prices are the best here when you buy them direct from the people who make them). There are also many scarves for sale here at the best prices in Egypt.

Avenue of the Tent Makers

1-Day-tour - Cairo Museum, Citadel Mosque & Old Coptic Cairo : Wed, 3 Feb

Deadline to book option SB-3A is 4 January 2010.

Please note that the mountain will be very cold this time of year. If there is snow on the mountain it may be closed. In the event that the mountain is closed, those who have selected this tour will be given other options.

Wed, 3 Feb or Thurs, 4 Feb:  Early departure from Cairo and drive to St Catherine’s (about 7 hours). Climb the mountain in the afternoon. Camel rides are not included, but you can hire a camel from one of the many that will be waiting there. The camels go about 2/3’s of the way up. The rest of the climb is via the "Steps of Repentance." You need to be in fairly good physical shape to do this climb. Bring warm clothing and sturdy footwear.

SB-3A: After descending the mountain you will sleep at a hotel at the foot of the mountain.  The next morning you will visit the St. Catherine's Monastery before leaving to drive back to Cairo.  Arrival in Cairo about 7-8 PM on Thursday, 4 Feb.

Cost: $580 USD per person (minimum 2 persons).  Book this option now.

Kom Ombo

Cruise includes sightseeing in Aswan, Kom Ombo, Edfu and Luxor.  On Tuesday, 26 January return to Cairo by air, overnight at our hotel in Giza.  The main tour begins with the Welcome Meeting and dinner at 6:30 PM on Wed, 27 January.

SB-4B: 3-9 February 2010:  Enjoy two more days in Cairo after the Siva Baba seminar is over and then a Nile Cruise.  

Beginning with 2 more nights at our hotel near the pyramids, have time to enjoy the pool and Wellness Center at the hotel, visit the pyramids again on your own, or join others from the Siva Baba group for add-on tours of Cairo, Alexandria and the Sinai (see above options).

On the 3rd day you fly from Cairo to Aswan (optional visit to the Abu Simbel Temples, if you would like, $250 USD pp).  Board your 5* Nile Cruise boat in Aswan and have sightseeing in Aswan in the afternoon with others from the cruise.  Begin sailing downstream the next day.  Visits to Kom Ombo Temple and Edfu Temple.  Dock in Luxor and check out of the boat on the morning of Monday, Feb 8th.  Sightseeing in Luxor that day with the cruise boat people, then fly back to Cairo.

In Cairo your hotel is right beside the airport to allow for an easy departure on Tuesday, Feb 9th.   See Daily Layout.

Leaving Cairo in the early morning by air, fly to Abu Simbel via Aswan. Return flight to Cairo in the late afternoon. The visit to the Abu Simbel Temples is about 90 minutes.
